Statement of Faith

What we believe

We believe in historic Christianity, as stated in the Nicene Creed. Our FFCS Leadership team and the people we serve are members of various denominations and traditions. We collaborate with the ethos, “In Essentials Unity, In Non-Essentials Liberty, In All Things Charity.”

We hold to the following statements:

Scripture: The sixty-six books of the Bible are the inspired, authoritative Word of God. Scripture, rightly understood within its cultural, historical, and literary context, is true. (2 Peter 1: 19, 21; 2 Timothy 3:16; 1 John 5:9; 1 Thessalonians 2:14)

God: God is one, living, eternal, all powerful, and true personal being. Though one God, Scripture teaches that God is known in three distinct persons as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Each person is distinct from the others, yet each is fully God. God is distinct from his creation. (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Corinthians 8:4, 6; John 4:24: 1:14, 18; 15:26; 1 Timothy 1:17; Revelation 4:8; Genesis 17:1; Matthew 3: 16-17; 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

Creation: God is the creator of heaven and earth, of all things, both visible and invisible. Everything God made is good and is intended to thrive and be fruitful. God’s pre fall creation is the way things are supposed to be. (Genesis 1-2; Colossians 1:16)

Rebellion: Mankind rebelled against God. Though intended only for good, God’s creation now experiences sin’s presence, corruption, and condemnation. Things are not the way they are supposed to be. We live in a fallen world. (Genesis 2:17; 3:6-8, 13; Romans 3:10-12, 23; I John 1:8,10)

Redemption: Jesus, the Son of God, the promised savior of the Old Testament, came to earth as a human being. He was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a life of perfect righteousness, died on the cross for sin, and rose again overcoming death. Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection all who are in Christ have the certain hope of a life in the age to come, that will far surpass life in our present fallen world. Now we live in the “already” of Jesus’s redemption and waiting in hope for Jesus’ promised return, the “not yet.” (John 1:1, 14; 17:2; 20:25-27; 1 John 5:20; Philippians 2:6, 8; Hebrews 2:14-17; 9:12, 15; Luke 1:27, 31, 35; Romans 1:3-4; 3: 25-26; 5: 19; 14: 9; 1 Corinthians 15:3-5; Ephesians 1:11)

Restoration: Jesus, the Son of God, promised to return and bring restoration.  He promised a time of judgment when all those who follow Him will receive resurrection bodies and be freed from sin’s presence, corruption and condemnation. At that time all those who follow Jesus will live with God in the new heavens and new earth forever. But those who don’t believe in Jesus will justly perish forever on account of their sins. (1 John 5:12; Romans 2:5-9; Mark 9:42-48; John 5: 25-27; 14:6; Romans 8:30; 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14; Act 17:31; 2 Corinthians 5:10-11; Matthew 24:36-42; 25:31-46; Acts 3:19-21; Revelation 21; 22:20)
